Licensing after V4 - Questions

Hi,

I'm having some licensing questions about future octane 2018 and beyond so please answer those questions as soon as you can

1. Is Octane 2018---> SUBSCRIPTION Only ? No more Perpetual licenses ?
2. What does "all-access" actually means ?
3. IF "all-access" is Standalone + plugins for Octane, which plugins are included in that 20$/m
4. IF NOT all plugins are included what are then those plugin owners get for All-access price if their APP of choice is not included ? Do they pay less or same and then they pay for plugin also ?
5. Is there way to pay yearly subscription in advance fully (1y, 2,y, 3y instead monthly ?)
6. Is there guaranteed yearly full point release with some kind of roadmap for users to see what are they paying in advance ?
7. Is there way you can extend that Black-Friday option to some more reasonable time for people to decide than 1 day (People are traveling home and going to be with Family at Thanksgiving/Black Friday so they will miss out that 25% discount if they don't buy today/now)

Pricing/Upgrade from V4

Once Octane 2018.1 is stable it will be released as a paid (but we hope fair and reasonable) upgrade to this and newer releases for V4 boxed users. We are moving to an annual 'all-access' maintenance plan for all boxed licences that want updates past V4, at the same $20/month we charge for monthly subs . If you want to pay even less, it's 25% off and only $14.99/month if you sign up before Black Friday (1 year minimum, 3 years maximum at this price).

It is a good deal - and it gets you more than newer versions of Octane:

- You get an extra slave node node
- In Q1 you can also access all DCC subscription plug-ins being added to the bundle
- ORC is also covered (used to be a $10/month sub) as is RNDR.

NOTE: If you cancel this annual access plan, you can and will always be able to still use any V4 boxed licences you've already bought. You can also reset your offline dongles from 2018+ to go back to V4 offline mode - that is never going away.

V4 is a perpetual licence that is yours forever - whether you bought it or upgraded to it from V3, and We put a lot of effort into V4 to ensure that users could feel great about what they are getting even if they choose not to upgrade.

C'mon OTOY can you please answer any of this. It's very confusing release with very short time for users to react (to get Discount)

8. From what i gathered Black Friday seems to be option ONLY for first year of subscription (and not all 2 or all 3) ?

My e-mail form OTOY says ALL-acess have much more plugins (i need LightWave plugin) than what it says on Upgrade/purchas epage.
How can that be different ???

When i go to upgrade/subscription to All-access then there is missing half of apps, in e-mail there is 20 plugins listed and on upgrade page only 10 + 1 soon , what happens with other 9 apps missing form upgrade page ??? Are all plugins included or not ?

Many User change the render because of that. As an currently example Vray for c4d...

It’s done - after 36 months you can keep the updates (with limits) and pay nothing further, we’re working out the details of how that works with ongoing cloud services like livedb still.

Sorry, this isn’t clear-

I bought Standalone+Blender Plugin perpetual license for $600 months ago.

Is that going away? Because if so I deman a full refund. Absolutely unacceptable. It’s bad enough I can’t even use the fucking thing when I’m not connected to internet, now I lose my perpetual license?

Can someone please clear up what is happening? I was told V4 is free to all V3 owners, ow I don’t even care about that I just want to keep the license i paid for.

No of course it’s not going away and all V4 purchased/upgrades licenses are perpetual and nothing changes that (if this is not 100% clear in the FAQ, please let us know, it should be).

This is only for future updates beyond V4.x, completely optional, and which are covered by ongoing annual maintenance going forward (you can own the updates after 36 months, with limits, as explained in the FAQ).

USB dongle is available for offline mode if you need it.

It is totally confususing.
I am Octane user from beta + Blender plugin now.
I have paid all upgrades until now,
but i will never pay subscription for any software. Never.

Can I have upgrade Octane with new future features after V4 without subscriptions?

We’re moving away from version numbers after V4, and releasing multiple major updates a year ($179 / year with current discount) starting with 2018.1. If you want to own this and later updates, that comes with 3 year plans.
