I just started playing with 2.3v5 and looking at the new manual.
it says about maxdepth that 4 and 8 are good so why is the default set to 16?
just curious because it bogs down renders a lot!

I guess my question should be, can we get more default control over all settings?

the manual was finished 2-3 days before we added the firefly reduction system which gave us the opportunity to set it to 16 by default, and raise the max to 2048.
Remember these are pre-betas, the manual is not %100 in sync yet, it's %95 in sync ;)
