Hey all!
I just wondered if anyone is getting BSOD (blue screen of death) every few minutes inside of Octane?
The past 6 months I've been Octaning with the biggest smile with no issues whatsoever! But this last week has been a real buzz kill, crashing constantly despite the scene or complexity. I noticed Nvidia dropped some new drivers last week, and wondered if anyone else has been experiencing any crashes or blue screens since then?
All my drivers and BIOS are up to date, with all system scans turning up negative on errors.
System Specs:
I7
2 x 980 (same make)
32gb Ram
BSOD With New NVidia Driver

hi,
It seems that the nvidia SLI function is enabled by default for each new driver installation. That's not really good. Have you chack that...

Also wanted to note:
Re-installed the newest version of Octane
No overclocked components
No hardware changes (other than a new mouse months ago)
No new software installs that may conflict
Have run a CPU and HDD stress test(s) that turned positive
Cooled machine, temp always average
No background processes that I can see as flagged with c4d is running
The BSOD error is 'Whea Uncorrectable Error' to which I've tried all the troublshooting tips I can find!
These crashes happen while working in the live viewer. It's studders, mouse freezes, then the blue wall!
(Trying to give as much info, but I have a hunch it's gpu ralated!!)

I did not know that! I don't have a sli connection installed, but will check that for sure. Thanks for the heads up.pxlntwrk wrote:hi,

Try lower frequency for your gpus. Check temperatures of gpus. Try to use some older drivers.

WHEA stands for Windows Hardware Error Architecture, so this is very likely a HW error, check the Microsoft Answers Community here:

I have (or had) the same problems. While it is true that it mostly is a hardware issue, sometimes its not. For example many have this problem with skylake-X cpus on x299 chipset motherboards and it has to do with voltage not being enough for the CPU so he chokes on to less voltaga. See this thread: viewtopic.php?p=348178#p348178mojave wrote:WHEA stands for Windows Hardware Error Architecture, so this is very likely a HW error, check the Microsoft Answers Community here:

These BSOD are popping up more and more in the last weeks, I also believe that nvidia plays a part in this.
@OP Please install the 416.16 drivers and see if it gets any better. For me it got better with that driver, though I am still investigating.
Which CPU do you use exactly? Is it a skylake intel CPU?

HI I have i9 7900x and ASUS ROG Rampage VI Extreme LGA2066 motherboard
The PC has 3 GPUs plus the forth PCIe is used for netstor turbo box with 4 more GPUs. It would render 20 frames and completely freeze. No errors. Removing netstor box and just having only 3 gpus in the PC helped but it still freezes. Only once it gave me BSOD with whea error all other times complete freeze/lock.
Both PC and netstor have 1600W evga PSUs
Here are my two old posts I am still trying to find a solution
