Hey so our company internet when down in the middle of our rendering session,
How do we use Octane without our internet?
Saw some back and forth about “Offline mode,” how do I turn this on? Can’t log in to to the Launcher.

I mean obviously it’s possible, not being able to render without internet would be ridiculous and an instant refund lol,
So hopefully someone can help us? We have a deadline tomorrow and need to get back to rendering ASAP so any help would be appreciated.

Not being able to render without internet is absolutely unacceptable, so surely I’m just missing something here.

As far as I understand it for offline rendering you only need to connect to the internet to authenticate Octane.
As an emergency measure in order not to miss your deadline my suggestion is:

Step 1) Set up a mobile hotspot on your mobile phone.
Step 2) Make a wireless connection between your rendering computer and the mobile hotspot
Step 3) Check that the internet is working on your connected rendering computer
Step 4) Start up Octane and continue rendering

This assumes that someone in your office may have a personal mobile account with a flat rate that uses a different internet provider than the company.

I cannot judge if signing up to Octane Cloud at this point may allow you to catch up on lost time so you can make your deal line.
Uploading the scene over a mobile hotspot may take some time.

Hi TaylorCaudle,
if you are still working with 3.07 or previous versions, you can use a cellphone connection (as proposed by linvanchene) to manually deactivate you licenses, by pressing the Sign-out button in both Standalone and plugin Account panel, restart Octane, and enable the offline option before activating the license.
If you are working with 3.08.x/4.xx, please note that you need an active internet connection only on start, and before closing Octane, to correctly deactivate the license. The activation and deactivation process needs only few kbites, and in between, you can work without an internet connection active.
The new Offline option is going to arrive very soon.

Sorry, this isn't clear-

So I CAN or I CANNOT use Octane without internet? Because I didn't pay $600 to have to be tied to the internet to produce work.

I have internet currently- How do I enable to option that lets me use Octane WITHOUT internet?

You need to get a dongle now to use offline mode...

Yeah I'm not paying a single penny more, this is unacceptable. I did not pay almost $1000 to have to be connected to the internet to use my software.

Hi TaylorCaudle,
please write to [email protected] for licenses issues, and refund request.
Please, also note that v4 upgrade was free for everyone, and we had to switch to USB dongle to be able to guarantee the Offline option.
Happy Rendering

This is pathetic, why does Octane licensing get more and more cumbersome for paying customers.

We just lost internet connection and its unlikely we can get it for the rest of the day.

WE HAVE A JOB DUE TODAY. What do we do. The whole dongle thing is a terrible idea and we dont have one.
