Hi there,
Here is the reflection and transmission render pass outputs under 3.7.0.37 :
And here is the reflection and transmission render pass outputs under 3.8.2.39 :
The same file with the same materials and settings has been opened under the 2 versions of the plugin and rendered to the same sample count under the same lighting.
Can anyone tell why is there such a big different in the output and how do I get the 3.08 output to match the output of 3.7 ? I see the BRDF, Anisotropy, Rotation, Sheen, Sheen Roughnes as extra nodes under the Glossy material and BRDF, Anisotropy, Rotation under Specular Material. To me the default should have rendered the reflection and transmission as before but doesn't seem so. I have tried changing the BRDF and other settings but none match the output of the 3.07.
Can anyone point to what needs to be change under 3.08 to make it render like before ? Specifically the reflections. The transmission difference might be the way Octane is showing the transmission effect. I am looking for the spread out hot pixel of kind reflection highlights throughout the material like the 3.07 version.
Thanks and regards,
Rajib
Getting very different results between 3.07 and 3.08. Why ?

For anyone interested is the difference, the answer from Otoy support was this was due to bugs in 3.07 version which were corrected in 3.08. I quote their answer below :
Unfortunately there were a lot of issues with the render passes, which we (hopefully) fixed with version 3.08. The transmission pass for example, contained the diffuse contribution. The screenshots of 3.07 which you posted also contain a lot of fireflies. I think this was also an issue that got fixed in 3.08, but I would need to check, since it has been a while...
So the render passes in 3.08 it should be an improvement over version 3.07, which was simply incorrect. - abstrax
