Hi Octane Team,

Can you please give me explanation how to properly use Light IDs which were introduced in v4?
There are a lot of options inside Kernel tab and OctaneObjectProperties, so it is confusing how to use them
Or we should expect tutorial only when "Stable" version of V4 will be released?

Cheers

Yes sure,
I have already planned a tutorial about this but there are still some issues I preferred to wait. I'm just checking 3dsMax plugin 6.08 and just released I will post Light ID tutorials too.

There is a bug with GPU failures.
If I have 2 3ds max windows opened and one is done rendering then I steal slaves for the other max scene to render I get GPU failure during denoising. I guess denosiing GPU gets clogged from the first 3ds max rendering and there is not enough memory for the second. PC must be restarted
denoiserThread2 : Not enough free memory to run the denoiser. Required memory 475501728.00 MB

Thanks

Tutorials are great. However, I wish that Otoy would invest time into improving the documentation. That's kind of the point of it; to have a central place of collected knowledge and reference. Rather than having to go on a research scavenger hunt to find obscure bits of information. It would be great to add examples into the documentation.

This is one example where the documentation is extremely poor: under the Blackbody Emission, this is the explanation of Distribution:
Distribution – The distribution controls the pattern of the light. This can be set to an Image (Greyscale/RGB) so that an image texture or IES file can be loaded, the orientation or direction of the light is then adjusted through the image texture’s projection map.
And that's basically worthless. I goes into zero detail about HOW it actually works. It might as well say: "the distribution controls the distribution."

Hi mbetke,

Light Bug:
There is a window plane in front of the light.Light is switched off but still visible.

I think screenshot is pretty self explaining.

Disclaimer: I use 3.07 but in my experience so far with bug fixing I think this applies here too. ;)

I think it's related with "visible in reflection/refraction".

I've got the same when reflection of invisible light is visible in mirror.
But it's only in V4.

The checkboxes are greyed out there for object properties. So I can't change this.
