I've been trying to export a Z depth pass from Octane C4D, but its been having issues. I set the Z Depth Max settings and view it in the preview window and everything looks good (there's a nice black to white gradient). But when I export the entire multi pass, the depth comes out as pure white (the Depth settings seemed to revert back to what they were). Currently, my only option for getting depth is to render out an info channel separately, which is a pain. Any suggestions?
Pure white because it's your processing problem. Pixel values are bigger than 1.0.
Reading the manual is always good: http://www.aoktar.com/octane/InfoPasses.html

Did you please read manual? Live Viewer colors are tonemapped and passes are Linear color by default.ktheorin1 wrote:Sorry, I don't seem to understand. Why are the values I set not rendering within my final render. They work in the live viewer. I've tried it on every type of workflow, and the results are the same.

Sorry, I'm very new to working in dealing with these particular settings. When I changed the tonemap type to tonemapped, it all works as expected. Although, I worry this could affect other passes that I render as online sources recommend setting your tonemap type to linear. Is there anyway to get the depth to work correctly in linear tonemap?
As I pointed that correct way is to use Linear colorspace. Using tonemapped will be a headache for pro-duction environment while you have other passes.ktheorin1 wrote:I've figured out how to do it. Sorry, I am so very new to this workflow.
