I have a small but annoying problem on my main render machine where upon opening DAZ the two check boxes for "Automatic material update after content loads" and "Load Octane materials from .duf user presets" .. remain unchecked. I ALWAYS have to recheck them before loading a scene.
But on my Alienware laptop (where I transfer my license to when I'm continuing my octane work on the go) these are pre-checked .. and no need to do anything other than load my scene.
What can I do to get my big rendering machine to do this too. It's a simple thing .. I just want those check boxes to remember the damn settings and not force me to have to check them every time I load DAZ. It would just save on time for loading a scene.
Preferences won't remember settings

DAZ Studio usually remembers custom settings when you close it normally.
However if DAZ Studio crashes all such parameters will be reverted to the last known values of a regular shutdown.
Try out the following:
- Set all the parameters as you would like them to remain.
- Close DAZ Studio by clicking on the X in the top right corner.
You do not need to save the default scene.
- Restart DAZ Studio.
Your chosen settings should now be saved.
I have not tested if your Octane and NGE pane need to be docked in the UI for this to work.

I was able to observe a similar behaviour now.I have a small but annoying problem on my main render machine where upon opening DAZ the two check boxes for "Automatic material update after content loads" and "Load Octane materials from .duf user presets" .. remain unchecked. Tested this with
DAZ Studio Beta 4.11.0.236.
OctaneRender for DAZ Studio plugin R.3.8.2.39.

Findings:
My default setting was always DUF. To test this I switched it to AUTO and restarted DAZ Studio.
It defaulted back to DUF mode.
