We don't know a good way to estimate the denoising time, so we can't include it in the render time estimate.grimm wrote:I had a question as well, I noticed that the denoising time is not added to the final render time. Is this how it's supposed to work? Thanks,

Still no PMC issue reported for 2 years!????
If you can't fix issue, YOU MUST add "Old PMC" in v4!!!

Hmm, the scene renders fine and doesn't crash. What do we have to do to make it crash?milanm wrote:Thanks for this update, V4 is getting better and better!
I just noticed that there is a crash with animated objects when OSL camera shaders are used and motion blur is enabled.
Probably not, but this would be something provided separately from the actual Octane distribution. Either via the LiveDB or some other means. Is this OSL post processing and compositing node graph mentioned here going to be part of final V4?

Ok, so how come? even after few hours of closing octane, on other machine i cant activate my licence (it happens only time to time, not always) now im left with only 1 online unlock.abstrax wrote:Your license is always disabled automatically when you close Octane.WIPEXPO wrote:Hi, first of all congrats with new octane release. Can we get a option to automatically on quit deactivate licence ?
Thx.
Thx
I was trying to get motion blur to work with OSL camera shader when I noticed the crash.abstrax wrote:Hmm, the scene renders fine and doesn't crash. What do we have to do to make it crash?milanm wrote:Thanks for this update, V4 is getting better and better!

I just did some more testing and It looks like it's hardware specific. It crashes on two of my computers with different GTX780s in them (Windows 7 - 388.71 on both). Updating the driver didn't help. I can reproduce the crash on V4-RC5 as well as 3.08.3 and earlier 3.08 versions.
This is probably related to this discussion. I was trying to reproduce the exact same issue.
You can see the issues with motion blur and also network rendering in Joel's twitch live stream, I managed to find the relevant parts:

Here is the log from yesterday: And here's the log from the other machine: GTX780 render fail: Thanks for looking into this!

Thank you for the report. Yes, there is a bug in the OSL camera that causes it to overwrite the correct time sample with an unitialized one. It seems it's usually 0, i.e. doesn't crash but renders no motion blur, but if it's out of the range of [0, 1] it will most likely cause the kernel to fail.milanm wrote:I was trying to get motion blur to work with OSL camera shader when I noticed the crash.abstrax wrote:Hmm, the scene renders fine and doesn't crash. It will be fixed in the next release.

Depending on how you closed Octane your license may still be in use if the server didn't get to know about it. This can be caused for a number of reasons (not gracefully closing an OS session or PC, an unstable Internet connection, etc.), some of them beyond Octane's control, that's why there is an unlock functionality on the web as a fallback. If you run out of unlocks or are close to it please contact support for a top-up.WIPEXPO wrote: even after few hours of closing octane, on other machine i cant activate my licence
Also if you keep having issues you may want to use the offline mode available until 3.07 and which is coming back soon.
Was this using Standalone or a plugin? Also what version please?
The denoiser fix got rid of the weird dots in my test scene. It's working great now.
Thanks OTOY

I use Standalone, and this issue happens to me for few months now with most versions i used in that period - lately with 4RC4. I'm not saying it is an octane fault :
(not gracefully closing an OS session or PC, an unstable Internet connection, etc.)
Before i learn how to gracefully use my PC (and things related with it) can I ask for an option in octane settings :
to manually connect with server each new sesion ? (re sign in with account name and password)
Is it possiblle ?
Sorry for my English.
THX.

When I render with the 'Batch render script' and I use Ai denoiser I do not get a render pass with the denoise, I only get a none denoise images. ('save all enabled passes' and save layered exr' are on).
When I render with 'save the denoised beaty pass instead of the main beaty pass, only valid if the dnoiser is enabled' my main pass is denoised.
Am I missing somehting or is this an error?
