We're trying to recreate an effect on a character using a white material and have them slightly transparent without seeing any back faces of the mesh. See the example video below

Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gDR3hS ... e=youtu.be

I've tried a few solutions including turning off draw back faces in a display tag on the mesh, using an alpha material at a lower float. Having a fully transparent material applied to just the 'back' side in the texture tag and a half opaque material applied to just the 'front' side in the texture tag. Does anyone have a foolproof solution for a material like this in Octane?

Many thanks!

I would probably use an invisible material with a material ID pass, then add a semi-transparent layer in post using the material ID as a mask. Trying to do it directly in Octane seems like a waste of effort.

I'll give that a go - thanks!

Hi,
I would also try with a simple white diffuse, with white transmission, playing with Opacity.
There is no blur in the material, so it should be easy to obtain, probably it works better if the figure has no thickness.
ciao Beppe
