Render slowdown issue

Is there a reason you dont just hide the instance source, rather than sending it 100m away?

If you hide the source, the instances will also hide since the "visible" channel is instanced. You just need to manually enable your instances again.

Oh wow, your right.
Great to know that.
Weird behaviour with the camera transform: If an offending high poly mesh item is transformed and the IPR lag starts happening, all camera transforms after that are just as laggy. Until a low polygon mesh item is transformed.. then the IPR lag goes away for that item, and also the camera. Etc, etc.

On further testing, I've found (on my system anyway) the limit is about 250,000-300,000 polys for a single mesh item before the IPR delay kicks in.My workaround for now is to create a modo instance for anything over half a million polygons

p.s. if you guys need someone to help with Render Cache testing let me know and I'll start using it where I can.
Edit: I did a quick google search on the modo render cache and very little is coming up.. could you help me understand exactly what this is, how it's supposed to help, why is MRC development so slow and seemingly difficult to implement etc. From a coding perspective is it the case where you need to go one way or the other. (RC or no RC, either way seems to have strengths and weakness)

Paul and Funk, I was under the impression the Modo Render Cache needed lot of testing in the Octane plugin. Is this still the case?

I noticed you're addressing both of us, so I just wanted to make it clear... I'm just a user. I'm not involved with plugin development.MrFurious wrote:if you guys need someone to help
Well every time I try to use it, I'm running into random crashes, so I obviously think it needs more testing.MrFurious wrote:Paul and Funk, I was under the impression the Modo Render Cache needed lot of testing in the Octane plugin. Is this still the case?
To be honest, I really don't have the desire to have to go through everything again and file bugs on things we already have working (without rendercache).
