Please ignore if the next version will get rid of fireflies. BUT I am not sure why I am getting SO MANY. I see many posts using emitters and they have very few of them. Maybe its the materials in the scene...
Specular on logo and letters
Gloss with rough surface on back ground
Two area lights in front with texture surface cranked up (One square plane poly per light)
One area light w texture surface in a "ditch" beneath letters also cranked up (Same as above in poly count)
Path traced with HDR image texture turned way down to almost zero.
I end up getting 2.6 samples runs for several hours but makes little difference firefly wise
Is this because I have specular and gloss materials?
As I say please ignore if this is being fixed in next version ... I have just seen some nice emitter renders and mine looks like crud.
I have left it full size and not attempted to remove any ff so one can see what I am getting. Sorry for large file size
Thanks
Peter

Hi peter,
I open your file in Photoshop and give it the "Dust & Scratches" filter with parameter at 1 -1, than I down scale the image at 1024 px.
not so bad
ciao beppe

Thanks that indeed is a big improvement.
I am not sure that everyone has to do this to their files though. I wonder if its my settings?
Anybody tried materials like this and had problems this strong?
Peter

I think that at this stage it's normal to have caustic problems with so many specular and glossy materials.
Have you see the improvement of the upcoming v5?
We have to wait a bit more and render in duble size for now
