It's working well on me. (must be something on my system if no one else is having that issue I'll have to check, as this started testing this new version of octane in combination with my system configuration, note everything else is working except that specific thing adjusting the emission channel or adding it using the button in the interface).
What's your versions? (cinema 4d r19, octane 4.0 Xb4 standalone and this very version on c4d, recently released nvidia drivers 398.82 on a single geforce 980ti)
And could you reproduce it on a new scene? (I tested this version on a new scene, just a cube. as I think old scenes could fail as there are new features included in each version, after that I test in old projects just for fun; I think this way is better to test plugin stability on user end also it failed on other two scenes where is use emmision) scene were first failed is attached as a zip with its textures.
and send me your scene if you do! (yes sure, although is just a cube with a PBR texture as I use extensively substance painter for texturing, Universal material mode is a gift from the heavens for this kind of workflow)
this video is me replicating the hang, when I move erratically the mouse is trying to move the windows or move parameters in c4d, just the clicks are not showed.

Update_1: following your advice I created a new scene, adding emission from the start to the material is possible and no hangs occur, but if I add other textures on the channels and begin working on the material as soon as I click the button to add a texture emission c4d hangs, my suspicions is the displacement channel recomputing or something.

thanks for the update.
Not sure if anyone is having this issue...
This morning i had a sceen in C4d using v4 XB3 and it was taking 12min to render
i updated to the latest version XB4, re opened the scene and hit render, now it takes 2hours and 45min
all my cards are still selected in settings so not sure what the big jump in render time.

I have to ask, this is the first time I've had a warning opening when C4d '.... this version no longer supported...'. I came to this site to find out a new version 4.0 xb4 was available. Is OTOY just suddenly now putting out 'notices'(came in a 'Error' widow of C4D at open without any plugin declaration... just 'Cinema 4D stated)? Am in a 3 day day multi program job and about had a heart attack, lolol! Thanks for update, won't get cardiac arrhythmia next time if the update notice happens.
I've defined the your issue is a problem when you have displacement and emission together in universal materials. It may be an issue on renderers side. So we'll wait for next version and we'll check.omardex wrote:Hi, Aoktar, Thanks for your hard work on the plugin development.
I have a issue when trying the emmision channel in the universal mode, when using the button in the material interface to add a emmision node the c4d software hangs I have to force quit using the task manager.
also I'd like to know a little more on how to use the light linking inside the c4d plugin.
Update_1: also hangs when manipulating the emission node while the live viewer is open.
Update_2: the console don't print any info as all c4d stops, and is not only on the universal mode in the diffuse mode happens too.
