Hi,

can we make 360 renders in Studio?

Thanks.

You cannot render 360 degree images directly in the plugin. Instead, export the scene to ORBX and then open in Octane Standalone and change the camera type to Panoramic, and change the camera Projection to whichever VR format you require.

Does the orbx retain all the materials or do I have to redo everything?

Everything should be there linked correctly.

Hi Paul,

Just following up on this and wondering if the panoramic camera is on the list of things to implement, as for the other octane plugins? I realise it is possible to export to standalone, add a pano camera, copy the daz camera settings etc. but it is a PITA, especially as every adjustment to the DAZ scene requires going through the whole process again (or am I missing a trick?).

I'm sorry, but this is not something I can implement in the near future.

Okay . . . could I clarify is this a technical limitation of DAZ or more a matter of priorities?

It is not a limitation of DAZStudio. Adding an additional Octane camera type to the DAZStudio plugin is difficult given the way the plugin has been coded, so not something that I can do in the near future.

That's good to know that it's possible, but disappointing that it is difficult - though I understand that you weren't responsible for the original code.

I'd appreciate it if you would consider implementing for the next major release.

And now I'll stop annoying you :)

I also would be very interested in 360 renders. I understand that adding a new camera type would be difficult, but why can't we use an existing field that Daz uses to accomplish the same function? I ray can create 360 renders if under camera / lens / Lens Distortion Type / you choose Spherical .

I'm guessing if you pass that variable to octane, you should be able to accomplish what we're looking for?
