Good start, but I see some problems:

Mainly the scale of objects is wrong. Considering the size of the hat and table, the Tommy gun is a 2m long cannon. It should be smaller. Also the floor texture should be scaled up so that the tiles are smaller. Maybe introduce some light from the direction of the camera - it's a little too dark.

I like the wallpaper. Keep going.

btw, do you call your boss Don and show him utmost respect? :lol:

Very nice scene.

I confirm that the barrel is much shorter ! I also have to tell you that these cartridges will not fit in the Thompson submachine gun ! ;)

45 Caliber cartridges are very short, and their bullets are rounder, and for what I know didn't exist in hollow point.

These cartridges were the same used in the Colt 1911 A1 pistol.

You can see the shells with actual proportions in the scene I made some time ago (rendered with Blender internal) :

For the Thompson 1921-1928 (your model is 1928), you can see it in animation at the bottom of the page below :

I had an old newspaper almost like this one, about Capone lawsuit, but unfortunately I lost it ! :cry:

Keep on, it is a very good job ! I like the ambiance a lot ! :)

thank you for all the comments. i recon that i had some problems with the texture export from sketchup (i`ve been playing with octane for about 3 days). i had no reference pictures with actual size of the tommy so i had to improvise.

i ain`t going to work on this scene because i lost 3 days for this test. i`m going to work on my boooooring day to day stuff (filling stations for a petrol company). i`ll try to make other tests to improve the workflow :D

@matej
Thank you, i saw now that they are out of proportion, my bad after 3 days of modeling i lost it :D
@ROUBAL
very nice modeling you`ve got there. i didn`t know anything about guns, bullets etc.

Well, it is only a matter of time and patience. One of the keywords in modelling technical things is "Documentation".

I have to tell you that before starting modelling each detailed realistic model, I spend from two weeks to one month only for the documention part : gathering a huge heap of reference photos from Internet, reading articles, searching books, visiting some professionals when required (for the Colt 1911 A1, I went in a gun store with my caliper to measure some dimensions on an actual pistol, because I couldn't find accurate values and images on the web, and I didn't want to spend money to buy a copy in softair gun !

For the Tommy gun, I worked mainly from photos, and as this weapon was not available in gun stores (sometimes some copies can be found) I phoned to the main French gunsmith, specialized in providing weapons for the cinema, to get some accurate dimensions and informations about details of the mechanism.

It was by no way a reproach. Just to say that time is precious, and I perfectly understand that it is not often possible to spend two months on a model ! :)

I like your renders.
