Learning some new modeling skills, and I really like the design of the knob on this little hefty device ..
It's usually sitting on my desk not doing much work apart from looking fancy with the pretty blue led light shining around it.. didn't use it for modeling, I mean the ordinary 2D mouse is still quicker, and settings on the 3dmouse are often different when you switch programs (who has time to fiddle around that), and I just don't use it as much, and there are only two buttons on this device, and often times you have to use the keyboard for the shortcuts.. It's good for google earth flyovers..

I've put up the LED part underneath the rubber knob as the light emitter texture, but it didn't look like it did a lot of fancy shining apart from making it look brighter than the rest (I though my normals were off, but they seem fine)
And couldn't get anything for the metal part to appear anisotropic or brushed, any tips on that.. So I played with the backgrunds instead.. :)

I was really hoping this was a thread for a 3dconnexion plugin for Octane :) I just got mine but I already love it, it's so precise, much easier to move through a building model than with a mouse. Just wish it worked in RealFlow and Octane!

I like # 3, the light is on without being connected (only possible in 3d) :)

well, I didn't think anything about it.. since the post is inside works in progress, and that's usually only rendered objects stuff.. but now when you wrote it..
and the picture of unplugged lit up LED also, well, it's hyper-realistic :)

haha yeah that was a nice touch. For such closeups, subdivide further!!

crap I thought you wouldn't notice :), I though it was enough, but when I got real close it started to get polygonal when lit up enough.. it was rendering quite fast though, a few minutes was enough for each..
