Hey there,

I have had issues with octane on and off for a while now and I can't figure out how this can happen..
A few days back I started a render and it chewed its way through without a problem for about 4 days. Now I have to render a portion of that shot again and it crashes after about 10 frames.
This has happened before and after a while it went away but it is frustrating because I don;'t know what could cause this.
And since it is a crash I don't see some diagnostics, any idea?
My hardware is a pc, newest windows 10 update and newest gpu drivers updated today, 16gb memory and I have a gtx 1080 11gb memory and that is more than enough for the scene.
I am currently running octane 3.8

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Nick

Hi!
My suggestion is that give better information to get help. There's nothing for me!

Bugreports/console outputs/C4D scene/etc...
Also making some self tests before giving that

Hey Aoktar,

As you could read in the message above, there is no bugreport, there is no strange console info...I have the log open and there is nothing to display when rendering.
This is also odd I guess, not to see any info in the log...
It just crashes without any info out there and the same scene rendered flawlessly 2 times before.

I understand you need more info but I am as surprised as you are by this phenomenon.
Could it be the windows update or drivers...I have updated all to the latest version yesterday.
Since then I have issues...I don't know if it has something to do with it...

Another weird thing that is happening is that the render jumps all over the place like the camera is jumping around. And the fact is it is a animated straight path.
I rendered another scene flawlessly again so still wondering how this all is possible, I even made a new document and copy pasted everything in there but the issue remains.

Have you checked Octane Log outputs?
It looks like have low amount of VRAM. Using different programs can cause the out of VRAM while rendering.

And that you said about camera jump that can be due high float numbers in camera position. Octane is using single-precision float for data, it's not enough for very big numbers.

If you mean the log, I have had it open and nothing much appears in there, I will check again!
I have about 16gigs on ram and c4d is the only program I have open.
How can I decrease it to have to use less vram?

About the camera, it has rendered correct before so that is so strange, it is a big scene the camera is moving in but not that big, it is a 10 meter camera move.

I see your export time is very long:
Total export Time = 137877.931 ms

And have 34.5 Millions polygon and free VRAM about 1Gb.

It may fall to out-of-VRAM if you open and use another programs while rendering. And cause crashes.

I close all my other programms when rendering so that can't be it.
Read the previous post please, it is a big scene with lots of trees but all are instances from the same tree.
Nevertheless that can't be the issue that causes the weird camera move as described before.
