Hard Light with Environment? Sun?

Can you not get hard shadows through a window with the daylight/environment/sun? Trying to get the god rays look but nothing is working unless I put a light directly outside the window and blast it inward...

Please post some screenshots of your scene, Glass material, Medium Radius/Thickness, and Environment medium node, thanks.
