HI All
I have been using vray as a crutch, waiting for Otoy to fix the 3ds Max issue with the lights not working no matter what you do. It been years since the issue has been reported and still hasnt been resolved. I've seen many people with the same issue, and I would really appreciate an update to finally address this bug. It shouldnt take years to address. I'm sorry to come off a bit pissed off, but I'm sure you can imagine my frustration.
Lights in 3ds Max still not working

which parts don't work.. yeah maybe they should add some faloff in the are lights, or some fake volumetric effect.. but I'm doing product renders, and I managed to get through them somehow
.. I didn't use vray before so I don't even know what I'm missing on

3dmax, zbrush, UE

Hi brianzero,
as mentioned on other occasions, Octane render SDK uses geometry with black body emission and texture emission node, there are no "lights".
3dsMax Octane lights are a workaround; 3dsmax developers can not create something that Octane SDK has not.
I always recommend using geometry with black body emission and texture emission node; as you can see in my previous post, they can be used in creative ways.
