Hello,
With 3.08.0.10 I cannot render a scene which i can render in 3.08.0.09 much problems. (first render in 3.08.0.09 fails, press f9 again and I can render what as long as I want, whatever I want)
Easy to reproduce:
Copy the 3.08.0.10 plugin, start Lightwave, load scene, press F9, fail, press F9 again, fail, etc etc
Copy the 3.08.0.09 plugin, start Lightwave, load scene, press F9, fail, press F9, it renders, F9, it renders, F9 it renders etc etc.
Copy the 3.08.0.10 plugin, see above, no succes.
An empty scene renders in 3.08.0.10,and some smaller scenes aswell.
I have attached the logfile.
Setup is 1x 1080, 2x1080 TI and 1x 780TI
Any idea?
Best regards,
Hans

sorry to bother you again with this question, but it is normal to have to connect to internet each time a LW 2018 session is opened, to activate the plugin ?

Well, you are running out of GPU memory, so you are going to need to disable the GPUs with less memory (the 780ti) to render this scene, or enable the out of core feature, to see if it helps.
Code: Select all

00:00:40 (0040.20) | <> Triangles/DisplaceTris/Hairs/Objects/Voxels rendered: 1541581 / 0 / 0 / 1100071 / 0

OK thanks. I hope OTOY team will introduce it again, it was nice with previous versions of Octane...juanjgon wrote:Yes, sorry, I'm afreaid that the offline licensing is not available yet.vipvip wrote:hello,

Hmm, some how, out of core was disabled in 3.08.0.10, after enabling it, it renders. I cannot check now if 3.08.0.09 was set to, as far as I remember i did set that by default on enable for me.
Weird stuff. At least it renders now.
Why don't I have this issue when I'm using 3.08.0.09? I can render with that version of the plugin! (after it first complains and then it renders)
Best regards,
Hans

What are Diffuse and Specular values for in Metallic Material, they don't seem to do anything.

It is hard to say. Perhaps you are running just in the GPU RAM limits, and the .10 build needs somehow a bit more memory. Are you using a 780ti also for the display? In this case the GPU memory available could not be always the same.hkleton wrote:Hmm, some how, out of core was disabled in 3.08.0.10, after enabling it, it renders. Hi Juan,
No, the 780ti is just a card to render. Displays are connected to a 1080ti and the 1080.
When it renders, it show 0 out-of-core memory used, while it wont render when i disable out of core .
It renders now, it's weird , but I'm happy .
Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have the exact details about how these parameters work, but they can be related also to the specular map texture. The API description is:BorisGoreta wrote:What are Diffuse and Specular values for in Metallic Material, they don't seem to do anything.
P_DIFFUSE: Diffuse reflection channel
P_SPECULAR: Specular reflection channel which determines the metallic color. If the index of reflection is set to a value > 0, then the brightness of this color is adjusted so it matches the Fresnel equations.
P_SPECULAR_MAP: Controls the blend between the diffuse and metallic reflection.
Hope this helps,

Thanks, this helped, but we don't have Specular Map in the node edit panel and this one is important to mix between diffuse/glossy appearance.
