NEWBIE ALERT:
I've recently downloaded the demo version of Octane and have been playing with it for a few days. It's a very intuitive renderer, and quite easy to learn, so far; I'm seriously considering buying it. I use Lightwave 2015, soon to be 2018, for my 3D program of choice by the way.
One of the very appealing features of Octane that initially caught my eye, was the spectacular displacement node. One polygon and all that detail, wow :O
I started experimenting with it using a UV mapped cube. Hello little edge holes.
I've looked around for various fixes, and found a few, but, they're usually are for C4D or a program other than Lightwave.
The third party program Phantom Architecture seems to be the closet thing to a solution for me, if I were to buy Octane.
Is there a better solution available for Lightwave users to deal with the Edge Hole problem in Octane?

if I remember well, Phantom Architecture adds a bevel to the edges to avoid the 90° angle, while in c4doctane you have to remove the 90° angle limit in Phong/Smoothing parameter of the mesh, so you should be able to do the same also in LW, I guess.
Did you try with 3.08?
The displacement node has been enhanced with three different smoothing types: ciao Beppe

Hmm. I played with 3.08 and the three new smoothing settings you mentioned, and still can't seem to close the holes. Either I'm just missing an important step, or Lightwave is lacking the features that are needed to do what I want. Any suggestions.

Hi,
The problem can be related to the lack of smoothed normals in the cube object. You need to enable the smoothing parameter in the LightWave materials editor, and set the smoothing threshold above 90º, as you can see in the attached images.
Be aware that if you enable or modify the smoothing settings in the LW material editor while working with the IPR, you are going to need to reload the scene to see the changes.
