Hi all,

I'm having, after some time of work (1-2 hours), a big lag of about 1 minute when switching from any other app (explorer for example) to layout or modeler, or switching from layout to modeler and vice versa.
Restarting Lightwave solves the issue for some time.

On my scene there are mostly instances (bigger and smaller) and one big object that contains lots of layers (walls, ceilings, decoration, apparatus...). It is an archviz scene.

I've created an issue with Newtek, but they said that this could be related to the fact that I'm using only one card with Octane. Also, it happens to me everyday.

Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks for your support.

This happens to me too. It works alright and then this happens. Switching to windows explorer and back to Layout takes ages, same with switching between Modeler and windows explorer. I have many cards so that is not the reason. But this can happen with IPR inactive so could be Lightwave issue, not Octane plugin, we can't know for sure.

It happens to me too: if I try to switch to Layout (2015) after minimizing it I can see it in the Windows miniature, but the actual interface only pops up after a while. It gets worse with heavier scenes - and I have three cards, so the reason Newtek gave doesn't hold. I believe the lag was much less noticeable before the 3.08 cycle.

Yes, same here ! LW2018 + Lwcad is a painful too. Back to 2015 ! Sad !

Hi,

So this happens not only in LW2018, but also in 2015, right? And do you know if this is something new while working with the 3.08 plugin builds, or does it happen also with Octane 3.07?

Thanks,

Happens for me in 2015 with or without octane on heavier scenes.

Hola Juanjo,

it's something that's always happened, more or less; I'm on 2015/3.07 right now with a 3gb objects scene, and it takes some 20 seconds to switch back to Layout with IPR open (still instantaneous without IPR)

However, it's become far more noticeable with the 3.08 version of the plug-in and LW2018.

One more thing worth mentioning is when changing hierarchy of objects while IPR is running, it takes a lot of time, reparenting. With IPR off it is of course instantaneous.

Hmm, so this can be a LightWave problem, nothing related to Octane, right? I'm trying to reproduce this problem here, but without luck so far.

Thanks,

Maybe. I will have to test it on scene without any octane nodes at all. Could it have something to do with rendering the shader ball on textures with high res images?
