ah! I think we found the issue.
If you have Windows you only need the Nvidia video driver - nothing else.
The driver comes with Cuda already.
Choose the last driver that has cuda 3.0
I'll find it for you in a minute and link
Edit ok I see 258.96 and 260.63 are the only ones available for the GTX460.
Cuda is supposed to be backward compatible but I dont think cuda 3.2 is going to work because the demo was developed when 3.0 was out.
Look try the 258.96 (again) even though its 3.1 but this time only use the driver. We'll see if we can get it going without a work around first

Edit2: it might be an idea to make sure all old driver bits have been uninstalled.

Does Octane open itself ok? I mean its ok before you try to add a mesh, just the UI.
If you right click in the Graph editor and Add/objects/mesh and then find a demo scene mesh like the spaceships.obj does it load ok?

I dont think you can just swap them.
I think we need a 3.0 driver though...and we seem to be out of luck.
We are a step ahead with just using the driver now though..
I think radiance will be able to answer if the demo works with 3.1 it may not.
We'll have to wait for his next visit.
If all else fails I think there is going to be an update in the demo version soon that definitely does work with your 258.96 driver and the GTX460. You might have to hold off your trial until then.
Perhaps there is another issue but off the top of my head I cant diagnose it.
Check back again in a while to see what radiance says.
Sorry I couldnt solve everything for you at the moment

What if you install the drivers, and then the CUDA toolkit 3.0 - wouldn't that overwrite CUDA files of the drivers? (and hopefully not create a mess)
