Two 460s 768MB RAM or one 460 with 2GB (for the same $)?

Temp is max 72C on full load. I did not overclock it.jamnique wrote:I'm lovin' it!
BTW Matej, how is your Gainward in terms of noise and temperature?
I have a high tower with one vent on the front pushing air in, an another on the back pushing hot air out - a pretty common setup.
The noise is negligible, really. Just a tad above system fans when working on full load.

Just don't throw the 6600 away - you'll need it for running the monitor, while the 460 will render in Octane.jamnique wrote:Awesome! I would probably wait for Gigabyte if Gainward was noisy. Thanks guys, I'm going to replace my gtx6600 tomorrow
Gainward, GS, 2GB?It costs roughly 230 euros here (in Poland). I don't know if it's cheaper or more expensive than anywhere else.
Just go for it, I paid 40EUR more, 1 month ago... Slovenia, Balkan salaries & European prices

Same card, same prices to salaries ratio here brothermatej wrote:Just don't throw the 6600 away - you'll need it for running the monitor, while the 460 will render in Octane.jamnique wrote:Awesome! I'm keeping the old card, thanks for the tip.
Intel Core2Quad 9200 / 4 GB OCZ / Gainward 460 2GB
245e is what it costs in most of the shops. I don't think you can save much importing it from some different country. Which would be really nice since it's so easy nowadays.

The lowest European price I have seen is for the Palit GTX 460 Sonic 2GB (2048MB GDDR5) at 236E including 19% VAT.
So if you use it professionally it will cost you just below 200E.
If you compare that to even the cheapest i7 the render performance increase is extreme with the combination of Octane and this card.
