Hi Paul,

We've been trying to install the latest stable octane build of Modo 11.2v1 on CentOS 7.4

The .run file installs into the apparent correct directory, everything seems hunk-dory. But the problem occurs when modo boots there is no sign of octane. It doesn't appear in the System / Kit Toggle Enable list for example.

Any ideas of why this may be happening?

Thanks,
Darren

Hi Darren. Sorry, I missed this message somehow.

The latest version of the Octane plugin for linux are compiled until Mint rather than Centos, so I think that is the problem. I was hoping Centos 7 would resolve the issue between the two. but it seems not. I will revert back to compiling under Centos for the next release.

Hi Paul,

OK fair enough, if you believe that's the reason then good to know.

What's the ETA on a CentOS recompile?

In the meantime, where can I download previous builds of the plugin? I need to roll back at least four versions I think to get up and running immediately.

Thanks,
Darren

I think the last version which was compiled on Centos was https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloa ... _Linux.run.

Hi again Paul,

After some investigation it seems the problem may lie in the later versions of Modo and the Octane plugin.

I am currently having to run Modo 902 Service pack 3 and octane plugin 3.07.0.125, this combination works.

When we try and install any version above this (Modo 10 / 11) we get the install failure with all the last few versions of the plugin.

Not sure what that means but I hope you can help.

Thanks,
Darren

Hi Darren - what specifically do you mean by an "install failure" pls?

Hi Paul,

It installs in terms of stand-alone, no problem. The modo plugin also appears to install correctly. However in versions 10 upwards it does not appear in the modo interface, so is not accessible.

You cannot see it in the System / Kit Toggle Enable list for example. It does not appear in the menu bar. The Octane layout does not initiate.

The current situation is that I have it installed, it's working as expected in 902 service pack 3. However on the same machine it does not appear in 11.2v1.

Hi Darren

On a clean Mint18 system, I ran

Code: Select all

sudo ./OctaneRender_for_Modo_3_08_0_128_Linux.run
and then run Modo10.2, and the plugin ran fine.

What version of the Nvidia drivers are you running? I needed to have 390.25 in order for Octane to work - nothing earlier would work.

If you Modo->System->Open Content Folder, if the Octane plugin in the Kits folder?

Hi again Paul,

OK, we have reinstalled the OS and the modo plugin now seems to work fine.

FYI we're running on Cent OS, modo 12.0v01 and octane plugin 3.07.0.125. We also installed the latest Nvidia drivers.

Thanks for your help,
Darren
