Hey guys,

I've been working on this scene like crazy, and when I finally put all the elements together, Octane won't render it. In the Live Viewer, it says :
Render Failure!!! Check Console window and Octane log window. triangle count:19.41m can be high. Try to decrease polygon counts.
I'm on VR 3.07-R2.

Now I've started reading on this error, and it seems like the triangle count limit was increased to >70m triangle count for VR 3.0, yet it still stops at 19m?

I have 16 Gigs of RAM and 8GB of VRAM (GTX1080.

Here's the output in the console window :

Is there anything that stands out? Is my only option to reduce the triangle count, or to render in different parts?

Thank you so much for your time. Really appreciate it.

Quick update; realized that 1 group of objects - instanced 13 times - contained the 3D model of a curtain, which by itself had a crap load of polygons. I used the "Polygon Reduction" tool on it and for once it worked surprisingly well.

Things are now smooth and render at a reasonable pace.

Still doesn't explain why I'm limited at 19.4m triangle count still, but I can keep on working.

Thanks!

Hi,
firstly, always use the Render Instance option to reduce the poly count, then note that you are loosing ~2.9GB, because of os and monitor, so you have roughly only ~5GB of VRAM availabe.
Having a dedicated card for display can give you more VRAM.
