Hi guys.

I am planning to create a comprehensive set of high quality materials to use in octane (standalone and plugin).

Set would consist of many colors of standards plastics (with different finish types like glossy, matt, satin etc) just for quick and easy apply-and-evaluate the color/material on the object.
The same goes for metalic materials.
Of course set would include materials like fabrics, wood, metal, concrete, ground and many other architectural, automotive and product deign categories.
High resolution (2k and 4k), tillable textures and maps (normal, specular, roughness, bump etc) would be included.
Many materials would be configurable through nodes settings and with lua scripting maybe - to speed up the use of them.

The idea is to forget about endless searches in google, and creating the same material over and over.
Just the one and only ultimate material collection that you ever need.

I know that there is Live db - but it's content is poor and very inconsistent - to put it simply.

How much would you pay for that if any?

Do you think that 40$ is too much for this? or maybe too low?

Would you consider a donation to support the development?

Thanks in advance for your responses.
Regards,
Mac.

Depending on the quality and quantity of materials I definitely would. The price would depend again on how many materials, how difficult and time consuming they are to make (it’s easy to do plastics, good modern stone wall textures are more difficult for example), and if you use substance designer to make them you could include the substances for an extra premium. I would pay anything from 20 to 120 euros depending how much I like them and the quantity.

Hi,

Thank you for your insight.

I am aiming for top quality (substance designer would be involved in the process) and variety - the main goal is to forget about creating new materials since this pack would have everything that is needed (and more), and would be extended with "whishlist" materials etc.

I think that total number of materials would exceed 200 ( that includes the easy ones like plastics - but I think they are necessary).

I think $40 is too low for 200 high quality textures.

This is what you get for $59: http://www.renderking.it/product/octane-texture-pack/

It's a nice collection. And since it's ready to go, it's a time saver for me.

Best of luck.

Hi.

Thank you for your opinion.

Well it won't be 200 textures but materials (many would share the same maps) or I would say shaders since each one will be configurable (wear, dirt etc).

Anyway, I started doing this project, it took me 2 weeks to make basic plastic almost done. Whole RAL palette will be included (I think it is whole).

Mac
