no fear Sylvian,

the free plug in versions are limited to 2 GPU`s.

this is a kind of marketing campaign. every dealer will tell you that the first time is free. ;)
and if these users use octane first then they want more computing power.
and then you have to buy the full version like everyone else.
There is therefore no danger that this marketing measure damages the developers.
on the contrary.
this secures the jobs of the developers.
It also helps to increase the user base.
The idea is almost the same as free software trials.
I do not see any problems there.
this is in my opinion a very clever move.

How about the new denoiser? I mean, how much render power do you actually need, if the image comes out clear as crystal after some 100 samples? You could spit out frames to an animation with two 1080 ti's, like crazy..

Doesn't the denoiser turn the huge render rigs basically useless?
I am definitely not complaining, but just wondering.

hi :)

I render here for example every year round about 250 k frames in full hd res or higher. the denoizer will help only limited in that case.
who renders many animations knows that no computer in the world is fast enough. ;)
with 2 gpu`s you are lost in space.
