I made a scene in blender, exported it to oct, made the materials, then changed/added a few things on the scene export again (without pressing "r") and all I get is a bit of clay type like a stated a new oct-scene... on 2.2 this doesn't happen. I could edit my scene and the materials were still there. Did not have the time to look into that much this bug
EDIT : close down octane, then reopen it, load that file and the materials are there. Weird, it seems the mats don't show if the scene is loaded through the exporter
2) while you work do a "save as..." and type a file name. Then go open (press no to save now) and you will see that the filename you just save just ain't saved.

Great, can't wait to start playing with this! =) I'm probably missing something obvious, but I decided to install Octane on my MacBook Pro as well, since we now have the (de)activate options. I installed the Cuda 3.0 Drivers and Toolkit, but I can't seem to open Octane. It exits with:
OSX 10.5.8 with pre-installed X11 libraries.

Yes, I tried it with other less-ball-like models and this doesn't happen, even with default epsilon value and extreme bump.radiance wrote:Hi,
it's not a bug at all, it's normal.
it's the raytracing 'self-intersection' problem.
I assumed this was a bug since; it doesn't happen with IBL and it doesn't happen in beta22.

appreciate that Kubokubo wrote:a minor bug, if I use a film with and height over 4096 it'll be ignored at the command line and render for whatever that was saved in the file. I haven't test it in previous builds.
Also I like your test 8Eggar8.
Been waiting for a time that's right to test on some interior shots. What I'm trying now is to see If I could Leave my GPU's unattached to the 2 monitors I have and just hook my monitors up to my 'on board' AGP (Leaving the 2 cards free to process while leaving the AGP free for other tasks) Doesn't help. The performance takes a drastic hit (down from 7mgsamps / sec to 3, everythings assigned properly in the devices box - (2) 260gtx Active, Nvidia 980/780a (AGP) Inactive) So I though I would just use one monitor attached to the card to display and run the Octane app. and leave the other hooked to the 'on board' free to display other (software) windows and so far, this has never worked and always forces a hard crash-out.
When I was testing this scene last night I was trying to get some cad work done here at my job and let that scene crunch in the background. Working on my cad work was very 'Laggy' with Octane processing in the background. So I'm trying to find just the right 'sweet spot' setup for future usage, since my powerful system (and really is 'mine') is here at work with my Licensed Octane running on it. My system at home isn't worth using it on.
Will there be a solution to this in the Future?

Do'w, can't believe I missed that; thanks radience. =) Just had some fun playing with the area lights and I love it! Is there any chance of seeing emitting glossy/ specular materials in the future aslwell? (I.e.: Imagine a semi-transparent crystal emitting a coloured light, but not turning into the temperature colour itself.)
Either way, great work so far! =D

im consistently able to crash octane and lockup my machine when i make the area light emitters opacity totally transparent/invisible (so they don't show up in the render ). is there a better way to hide the lights ?

It would just seem in all builds so far, it would just be better off if AGP's are turned 'off' all together. would be nice, though if there was a way to have AGP's for outside apps to hook up to. Maybe???

Sorry for the multiple posts.
Back to the beginning. So, after re-doing all possible configurations for my 2 monitors, the only configuration that does not result in a crash is either having both hooked up to the AGP (slow, but allows other apps to perform unhindered) or both attached to (1) (of the 2 I have) 260 gtx cards (fast, but lags outside apps).
Just thought I'd post what I'm getting.
Any others out there have a work around yet?
Maybe Still in the works

Well I have tried to reproduce the lockup on exit I had but Octane is working great. Must have been something else? I have to say, that this version is the most responsive that I have seen so far. Even on my GT220 it's really responsive, as before I had to select the medium subsample button to get the responsiveness to a usable level. Excellent job guys, thanks. Now if I just didn't have to work I could play some more.
