Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to let net gpus load geo and materials ONLY on the first frame of a sequence? I guess this is the same across all plugins since it uses octane standalone, but im wondering specifically how to do it in Houdini. Right now it seams that it has to send the entire scene to the net gpus on every frame...

Hi stir,
please, have a look at the documentation about the Rendering mode:
The Octane ROP Node/Main

Hi,
I know about the rendering modes - but this does not work with the net gpus - they still need to load for each frame - cause it takes the same amount of time for each frame before they kick in. They should start right away from frame 2 if they use update scene as the local gpus does. Is there a way to fix this?

Hi,
In theory, the data updated in the local GPUs should be the same updated in the network nodes, but I'm not sure ... the network rendering is controlled by the Octane core, there is nothing to do from the plugins side, all is handled behind the scenes.
As far as I know, if the local GPUs are updated without almost loading time, the same should happen with the network nodes. What happens with the IPR and the render nodes, are they updated in real time if you move for example the camera?
Thanks,
-Juanjo

Hi,
No, when i move the camera in IPR it doesnt need to reload - its only between frames when it renders. This is super annoying - would be so good to get it working only loading on the first frame.
