When I'm working on high res stills, I sometimes find the live viewer gets incredibly unresponsive and slow. Is this because of the resolution I've set in c4d for final output? I'm rendering a still at 210mm x 210mm @ 300ppi. I find if I change that to a lower res, then things speed up again. Is there not a way to set the live viewer to screen resolution while I'm working and then have it render at full print res for the final render to the picture viewer?

You have answered your question. İt's live viewer and refreshes when a new render result sampled. Use off for lockres icon for different resolution.
