I used the default settings. My Machine is roughly 413 OB (according to the estimator with 3 GTX 980ti cards -- not enough time to download and run the latest bench) and frames average roughly 5 minutes on my rig. These 11 frames took approximately 1/2 hour from creation to finish (actual render report is not listed on the job page.) To be fair, the estimate was roughly $5.45, and if I were to render the whole scene that I actually submitted (77 frames) the estimator is projecting $34 -- and that is less than half of all of the frames in my shot (200). Honestly, this should be about a $20 farm cost for ALL 200 frames, but it looks like ORC is 3 times that amount. That is truly cost prohibitive. Any plans to bring pricing more in line with other farm services? I don't mind paying a premium, but over 3x is just throwing money away...

And, as it turns out, I seem to have discovered a bug, which I will post over in the Cinema 4D forum, as I believe it emanates from the C4DtoOctane plug in...

What was the bug? Let me know how we can help. 200 frame jobs should be fine, but I wouldn't go to ORC for a job you can run locally in under an hour. ORC's value is tuned for high daily volume that you can't get locally (or even on most farms) - it's proven indispensable for animation jobs that need 10K->256K+ OB/HR to complete overnight. With RNDR next year, we hope to get a lot more nodes than ORC has, so we want to capture a lot of smaller jobs with lower latency.

The bug is how boolean operators are visible in ORC, but not in Standalone or Cinema. I wish this rendered in an hour on my local setup. It took 16 hours for me, hence my desire to use a farm solution instead. That, and I can't use my machine when rendering.

Did you see if this might be an issue with 3.08 being a test release as per my post in the other thread?

I haven't tried yet; I will tomorrow. I have quite a few shots left to do, so crunch time...

How is that RNDR thing working out..

.. I'm imagining a service where I can post my job online and other peer computers take it, and when I'm not using it overnight or whatever, I get rndr credits in return for rendering out those jobs (or get pid in rndr tokes which can be sellable).. I think I could live with that ..

How do we calcutale the prices of orc so far..
