I'm trying to import a video file and have rendered a PNG sequence. Stills work fine if i render a separate alpha and bring that into the opacity channel. Wondering if this is some type of bug or if i'm missing something? The only way i can get something close to what i'm looking for is to render an alpha and use that in the diffuse channel, but that just gives me an alpha of course (last image).
Are you using "IMAGETEXTURE" rather than using C4D's bitmap?

Yes. I actually used a qt file in a standard c4d material and that seems to work. That being said i tried the sequence outside of an Octane material and am encountering the same issue. Using R18, not sure if it's a bug?
Use a PNG sequence with mode=Alpha. If you're using a quicktime move or avi that will be get rendered to a bitmap for every frames and applied.
