Hi all !
I've installed the version OctaneforC4d 3.07 R2 and the Gradient Node became really painful to use because when i make just a little move in the gradient settings i need to wait 20/30sec that 'Octane generate material' finish his job,
it's very frustrated 'cause i always use it like a 'level' with mix or image texture... So i need to stop the live viewer, do my stuff, and then relaunch the live viewer to get my result, it's not live anymore to me.
So i went back on OctaneforC4d 3.07 R1 and the same gradient work properly again without any lag... so i'm just a little bit worry because for me the newer version it just worst than the 3.07 R1. I hope it will be fix in the next version or something...
My second issue is about reflections and depth of field :
As you can see there are buildings and glossy material on windows, but the reflection seem to be wrong here because it doesn't care about depth of field...
it's not physically correct ! i've another image with bokeh generated by deph of field and well the bokeh is in the window reflection too ! but it's properly impossible ! so i don't really understand... Octane render is unbiased and physically correct in theory so i don't know why i get this result.
Thanks a lot for your support and helps.

Could you please send a scene for gradient issue?
About dof i think it's physically correct.

Hi !
yes sure ! For the reflection issue, maybe i miss something but these sharp reflections which are in depth of field seem very strange to me, i think in this case it's not physically correct because reflections must be submitted to depth of field too, mustn't it ? if my focal depth is pointing at the window (so the opposite situation of what i made in the picture), its reflection is completely blurred, because it reflects other buildings wich are blurred in foreground by depth of field,
so in this case the depth of field value could have a big impact on the entire reflections and physical properties of a scene, in fact every reflections of a scene could be wrong... Maybe i'm wrong but it actually does'nt make any sense to me.
Maybe it's something i'm not doing right with my scene or my settings.
Thanks a lot for your help Aoktar, i think i just need to have some explanations to understand right the depth of field and reflections in Octane render

OK i've made a simple scene containing the issue so you can check properly what i'm talking about.
So as you can see on the image, the focal depth is further than the mirror but its reflection is sharp but not its edges... it makes no sense, the mirror's reflection should be blurred as the mirror itself.
it means in a more complex scene with reflections and depth of field, every interactions between each others are completely wrong as you can see in this instance. But i hope missing something !

maybe google can help you on this.Dynast wrote:OK i've made a simple scene containing the issue so you can check properly what i'm talking about.

try: depth of field in reflection
p.s.:
i tried your scene and i don't experience this problem. live viewer reacts instantly to changes in your material.
maybe it's a hardware issue?

ok i've checked and yes it is physically correct,
my misunderstanding is due to unreal distance between my buildings,
so the reflection is physically correct but not my scene, it led to the surprising result between my depth of field and reflections.
so it's great ! and thx for your help !
ok for the gradient node issue i'll check my hardware.

ok for the gradient node issue i'll check my hardware.
Could you please reset preferences of Octane C4D and check with different drivers? Your scene is working very responsive on my system.Dynast wrote: ok for the gradient node issue i'll check my hardware.
