yes I'd love this as well. i'm an autosave & undo addict, first thing I do when I get new software is turn autosave on 5 mins, enable saving backups, and turn undo level to 100. just makes me feel more comfortable!

I am a Java programmer, and the Java editor application that I use saves nearly every keystroke and allows you to easily rewind to any point in time (vaguely similar to Apple's Time Machine feature), from the moment you created the file, even if that was months ago. or if you don't want to revert to an old copy, you can just open it, copy the part you want, & paste it into your current document.

just mentioning this for perspective... I know this wouldn't be possible in most 3d apps due to the massive amounts of data. just food for thought i guess.

The UNDO feature would be useful on materials, because sometimes some improvements are in fact bad and if you didn't wrote the previous settings, it can take some time to get the same result as before !
