What methods have you tried? I use it all the time and it works perfect. sample attached

If you don't like this method, you can also link your focus to a null, and then animate that position.

Thanks, i figured it out, i didnt mean simply to change focus.

I meant this lens breathing effect therefore the reference. It is a lens defect that i had to imitate.
