Hi
is there anyway to transfer scenes or materials from maya to 3dsmax? Or a work around like lighting geo in 3dsmax and shading in maya and importing both scenes into one standalone? Any ideas would be great,
Marc

Hi spillstudios,
I have succesfully transfered an already setup scene from c4doctane to Maya Octane, by exporting and importing the whole scene in FBX format, and saving the Octane materials in LocalDB to have them back in Maya.
You need to assign the correct material and copy by hand the render settings, but it works.
Maybe you can try to do the same from Maya to Max.

That sounds like it could work, so when you save to local db it saves the material file and you can import it to another package?

Hi spillstudios,
yes correct, you can save materials from any plugin, then you can access them from any plugin.
You can also manage the materials, and create folders/cathegories in Standalone:
LocalDB
LocalDB Max
