I cant figure out how the vdb file work with a vdb sequence? I have the vdb sequence out from blender named smoke_001.vdb to smoke_164.vdb.When i hit the first file
the sequence does not work. I have search everything in the forum even this about the smoke_$F4.vdb which i dont know what it is.
How can i possible take a sequence get render in Octane.
And also what it means $F token frame offset.
In C4D the plugin has a vdb sequencer. Here how we get it work?
Any help please.
Thanks a lot

if you would render it as sequence you need to activate the volume update button in the render target node if you use only "update scene"...you can also check rto render it with full reload scene...drako3d wrote:I cant figure out how the vdb file work with a vdb sequence? Hi,
Yes, to render VDB sequences you need to use the $F token in the filename, that is replaced by the frame number using four digits. For example, if your VDB file name is smoke_$F.vdb, the plugin will load the file smoke_0056.vdb if you are in the frame 56.
Also, remember to enable the "Update Volumetrics" option in the render target root node options panel if you are rendering the scene in update mode.
Thanks,
-Juanjo

I have always activate the volume update button in the render target node if you use only "update scene"...Also sometimes i use the full reload scene in the render node.
I have also the volumetrics update on when i use volumetrics.
Juan you wrote me the following.....

I cant understand. When i export from blender i have a sequence of files named just Smoke_0000.vdb, Smoke_0001.vdb, Smoke_0002.vdb and so on. When i upload them with the volumetrics object properties i choose the first one as we do for the sequences. That method does not work. If i get it right from your comment i have to rename all the files of the sequence from Smoke_0000.vdb to
Smoke_$F.vdb or just the first one?
Can you help me please.

Hello
I am having the same problem here. I have a vdb sequence number smoke_0001, smoke_0001, etc. and the smoke_$F.vdb in the file path but nothing is showing up. The vdb shows up when I select a individual file and render. Also where is this "Update Volumetrics" option? I can't find it anywhere.

The update volumetrics option is in the render target root node options panel, at the same place of the other "update" options. About the VDB sequence, are you sure that they have this kind of numbering and the right extension?
Thanks,
-Juanjo
