my stand alone octane is still ver.1. Do I have to upgrade first before I can use the plugin?
GTX 560 2GB, AMD FX 8350, 8GB RAM, Win7 x64

Yes, you need to upgrade to Octane 3 in order to use the DAZStudio plugin.

if you really do enjoy octane, then you may find its worth upgrading to version 3. lots of fixes since 1.0 regarding the plugin. and octane itself added a good handful of features.

personally, i couldn't go back to 1. you'd probably appreciate all the improvements once you had time to absorb them all.
