I read it :) And i strongly disagree, it is an issue.
I cant have a dedicated octane dump folder and setup my export in 20 queues to go in there, besides my render exports. I have changes all the time, many files, many users, many exports. If someone forgets that unnecessary step of complication that u describe as solution, we ll end up having files all over the place. If i start making workarounds like this for every program/plugin i use, god help me haha. I dont see why octane must be an exception.
Ty for the suggestion anyways, cheers

ok.
If you don't belive it's NOT an Octane issue, do this:
set up a project with STANDARD RENDERER, not Octane..
And untick "save" option. Then put it into a queue.
If you don't get saved image files in the project folder, then I get you a beer. :)

thing is - it's not Octane related.
So you should go to Maxon team. It's their problem :)
Cheers!
