hi

i have some trouble with lens shift in octane. if you have high numbers in vertical shift, the difference between live viewer and final rendering gets bigger and bigger. values like 600 % (in c4d camera) cause heavy differences. using the lens shift in octane camera tag doesnt seem to do anything.

another problem is the foreground object. renders fine in live viewer, nothing in final rendering.

any help is appreciated

thanks

Hi volkmar,
I have tried to reproduce the shift lens issue but here is working as expected at 600%:

And the Lens shift value in the Octane Camera node works in meters, so you need to enter -6 in the Y axe:

About the foreground, a workaround is to use a plane parented with your camera on the Z axe, and same aspect ratio. Then use a diffuse material with the texture in diffuse and emission, with Cast illumination disabled, and the alpha in opacity.

Hi

I tried again but here it is not working. there is always a difference. the lens shift in the camera tag doesn´t do anything for me.
i tried with a fresh scene, cube, plane camera. still issues.
but if i could somehow get my foreground object working, it would all be ok. parenting a plane to the camera is difficult, due to the shift values. could work with some expresso. maybe i give it a try.
thanks for your help.

Having details about version numbers are helpful to define problems. And sending a scene + images to show the problems.

hi aoktar

i am using 3.06.2 on windows 10 with c4d 18.
i send a c4d file attached where i parented a plane that follows the lens shift. behavior is as expected, but not in live viewer. the plane appears shifted to a wrong position. higher values cause more error. the final rendering is correct. lens shift in octane camera tag doesn´t do anything.

best regards

Hi volkmar, I just wen through this same issue on a project myself. The solution is to "lock" the live viewer and then adjust the resolution multiplier if needed. If the Live Viewer is not locked, then you get a multiplied/incorrect shift.

It's correct.
