Just seconding Chipp here - there are many occasions where SU is launched merely to model, or convert files etc., as happened to me yesterday, I had a client ask if we could open a rather large SU file and backsave to a 2013 file, I had no choice but to open SU, turn off the plugin (crash), then re-open the large file, save it, re-open SU and turn Octane on again. It is a big usability issue.

Again thanks for the effort in bringing it forward :)

Thanks,

The undo menu option is grayed out, and ctrl z is doing nothing. Is this to be expected?

Thanks,

Skatter still does not work with the 'render only' function. I do mainly architectural rendering and in the case where I need landscaping and grass, especially, I am unable to use octane because I have to load all the geometry.

This also happens to me. When I open the file right off the bat it starts loading octane geometry. And for my bigger models this kills my system and I have to restart.

And did you get rid of the octane Material library? I couldn't find it in the newest version and the node system is so annoying to sort through when you have a lot of materials. I am now actually using version 3.0.4 because of the materials library and the fact that it doesn't automatically start loading octane geometry. However, Skatter is still not working and this is by far the biggest problem I am having with this plugin...

Looking forward to all the bug fixes...Was demo-ing on the weekend in front of the SU dev staff but couldn't show them anything because of crashing.

Hi all,

Apologies for the inconveniences experienced. At this point, the required work needed to resolve the above mentioned usability issues has been identified and is currently in progress. This has been a formidable task. The required solution for this was essentially being built from the ground up, to counteract challenges and restrictions of the Sketchup SDK.

Bringing this product to fruition is still a feasible objective that we are getting closer to accomplishing - we have narrowed down the core our remaining issues to a root cause that can and is being resolved. A lot of these issues are "under the hood" so to speak. The magnitude of the work completed may not reflect in the front-end user experience, until we are closer to completely eradicating the underlying challenges. We will always bring forward meaningful, user-friendly updates as soon as we have them, though we will also aim to be more transparent with the critical progressions that are being made between test builds.

Captain continues to work consistently and tirelessly towards laying down the groundwork for resolving the usability issues remaining in the beta. Hopefully, more transparency will provide more insight into our ongoing progression, towards a feature complete version of the OctaneRender for Sketchup.

Best Regards,
Azen
