Hi there Octane community.
We are pretty new to OctaNe so I trust you will excuse what you may consider as newcomers questions.

We are trying to create a metallic texture with displacement map for some designs in the texture that would also have some emission light inside the area that is kept undisplaced in the displacement area.
Only the glossy material type doesn't allow to have some emission and the diffuse material type doesn't allow to have the index of metals.

We tried the mix shader by using the glossy metallic material with displacement under and the emission with alpha (opacity) over it. but all we have is then the texture with emission and glosssy index but with no more displacement. we also tried to juts put the two materials on top of one another on the object and ended with the very same result ...

Is this an issue in octane ? is it impossible to do it or are we just dumb ?
Why is it even not possible to add an emission channel with alpha texture inside a glossy index material ?
Are we missing something here ?

thanks in advance ofr your kind help ...

Here are some visual examples of what we are aiming at ...

The glossy material with displacement designs :

the emission material inside the displacement design :

What we are trying to achieve, the glossy indexed metal material with the emission inside the displacement designs (this is a photoshop mix of the previous tow images):

You can do that!
-Use a mix material with one glossy+one diffuse(with emission).
-Connect texture to displacement of mix material.

Thanks a lot Aoktar !
I don't know why i didn't think a second the regular process should be to apply the displacement inside the mix material (Lack of experience obviously).

Still it would be an easier process if we coul juts apply an alpha emission on any type of material in octane weither it'd be glossy, diffuse or specular ...
It would be especially cool for applying some emission design on glass to simulate transparent science fiction screens ...

Well thanks for your help !

Here is the result I got with your suggestion ...
