Hi everyone,

This is becoming a trend with most software now that they require an internet connection to authenticate the license. However, I do hope that you can figure out a way to allow users to use the license without having an internet connection. My internet connection was down for the last 2 days and for that reason I was unable to use Octane even though I have a full license which is frustrating to say the least.

One approach is to develop a an offline authentication key system which is linked to the machine ID. so I get online, my license is authenticated, then I get an option to download an offline authentication key that would only work on my machine, this way you protect the software, and at the same time the users do not require an active internet connection all the time (just the first time).

Please consider it and I hope that you may be able to find less frustrating way to protect copyright.

Also checkout the licensing systems being used by companies like Insydium for X-Particles. It requires an internet connection to authenticate the product license when you first install the software but then it just links that license to your C4D license on that machine and it will work without internet connection until you update or change C4D version or change machine.

Thank you.

Hi yalbaiz,

Please take into account this is an old post as Octane supports offline authentication for full licenses since v3.0.

You can find all about it in the documentation:
