Hello guys. Im a buying a new computer so i can finally put my hands on octane.

However i don't understand nothing about the technical requirements for octane to run. And im want to have sure that the computer im buying can run it.
(I am that pentium 3 is better than 2 kind of guy)

Im buying my computer from a store (not online) where i have some discount.

https://www.worten.pt/informatica/compu ... es-desktop

My budget its till 2000 euros. (will consider a little more if its worth it)

what do you guys think about the msi gaming computers? are they good? will they run octane 100% or other options are better?

Im using c4d´

Thank you guys.

Hi,

You need Nvidia cards and your can see the performance on the OctaneBench
https://render.otoy.com/octanebench/res ... ingleGPU=1
I suggest you get the highest performance your can afford.

You can compare cards and price and then decide what you think is worth to spend your money on.
Let us say the 1070/1080/1080ti are about 600/700/900 $/€ and their average performance on the OctaneBench is 120/135/185 somthat scales pretty much equally on price/performance.

You probably make sure you setup your config for your needs first, like working with c4d, gaming, other stufff... octaneRender does not need cpu for rendering itself, but high cpu helps faster loading the file.
Then I would make sure the space inside case, pci setup on mobo, pci-lanes (air)cooling and psu are good enough for future to have 2, 3 or even 4 videocards.. and then see what money you have left to spend on your first high end video card.

Hi,
as Rappet said I suggest to buy a very good graphic card like 1070-1080 (for octane render) but even a cheaper second card (for the screen) otherwise only 1 graphic could reduce render perfomance.
Moreover be sure to buy a pc with:
- a lot of RAM. I have 12 gb but this memory is not enough. I suggest 32 gb min.
- 2 hdd or better 1 ssd for OS and software and 1 fast hdd for data storage (take a look at http://hdd.userbenchmark.com/)

bye

If you can, go for no less than a GTX 1080 Ti. It's not necessarily the render speed, but the sweet 11 GB VRAM that makes it very good to use. If you choose 1070 or 1080 you will regret it further down the road because you scenes will start to become more demanding as you progress and then the VRAM is very valuable

thank you guys for all the help.
the list is very usefull.

Im just want to mention im not buying the computer by parts. I will take one of the desktops ready to use on the store.

Im buying my computer this week. So far more into this one:

16 Ram
1080 Ti should work fine for my needs i guess since my scene files most of the times are not big.

would you guys pick another one?

Cumps and great renders!

Get 32GB of RAM.

And I see it comes with a "disco".. that's pretty cool. ;)
