V4 started active development in 2017 (and speeding up now that V3 is near completion). That was all that was said about V4 timing.

I also fully agree dates shouldn't be set for long term features. The OSL work, TBH, took a lot more time and effort to QA than we planned, and that's on us. It's a lesson we've learned from and it's changed a lot already.

We've now broken roadmap updates into smaller, equal parts, starting with 3.07, to better focus on getting releases out quickly, and we going to keep that pace with 3.08 (nearly feature complete already), 3.09 and finally 3.10.

I do want to clarify that Unity integration isn't done by the core Octane dev team in NZ, and doesn't affect any part of the roadmap for the engine itself or any of the other plug-ins.

We've also just brought on a new plug-in developer to work with the team on our 1st party plug-ins (Max/Maya/Blender/SU) this week. We look forward to introducing him on the forums shortly.

Applause!!!!

BTW - If Otoy wants to go straight to 3.1, I'm okay with that. I really am. Don't stress at all, it's okay. Straight to 3.1.

Cannot find it anywhere, after a lot of time searching.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction please?

Thank you,

Perry
It's been discussed in other posts - but at a high level OSL shaders ( can create completely new procedural map, noise and texture nodes), and a revamp of the material system: new BRDF options, toon shading, metalicity workflow support and anisotropic controls among others.

Hi Do we have to know programming to create new procedural maps? Can we create procedural wood, asphalt etc with OSL? Thank you
