Hello,
I am currently testing the Octane plugin for modo.
Quite often I set up the shader tree with a material at the very bottom and then overwrite the diffuse color with contants or image textures using group masks (item, part, selection set). This way I can get, for example, different colour for a plastic material but when I decide to change the glossiness, I don't have to do it for every colour.
Octane manages to interpret this quite well, as long as I don't decide to recreate my root material with an override (eg. to work with octanes procedural textures). If I do that, everything looks like the root material, all goup masked changes are being ignored.
How can I resolve this, if at all?
Thanks.
MODO: Override the overrides further up the shader tree?

OK, I think I found a way:
Create an override in each group mask, move all nodes to the node network of the root override and start connecting.
This could turn messy with a lot of group masks but at least it works.
Is there another, simpler way that works directly i nthe shader tree?
Thanks.

Hi - sorry for the delay answering your msg.
Each Modo Shader Tree group converts to a separate Octane Material. And if there is an Octane Override for a Modo Material - that Override replaces the Modo Material completely. So in your situation, the Octane Override at the bottom of the Shader Tree is stopping diffuse color changes in the Group Masks above from being applied. So in summary, I would recommend not creating an Octane Override for the root material.
I hope that helps.
