Hey guys,

I am just curious if someone else has problems with Octane lately.

I got random freezes of my whole system. It doesn't matter which version I use. I tried 3.06.2 and 3.06t4 both don't work.
I am using the latest Geforce update (384.94) and latest Cinema version 18.057
I have a 980ti, 1080 and 1080ti.

Yambo told me it is because of the Windows creators update. I don't have a windows backup (yet :-)) so it is kinda
time consuming to do that.

Do you have some other solutions?

Cheers and thanks

Hi vnz,
here are some ideas:
check to have disabled the SLI/MultiGPU option in the Nvidia control panel.
Are you using the Priority option for the GPU connected to display?
Try to disable one GPU at a time, starting with the one with display, to check if the instability persist.
Use GPU-Z for monitoring the GPUs while rendering, especially the temperature.
Check in menu Script/Console the log output for error messages.
Check if there is a bios update for your motherboard.

Hey Beppe,

I tried quite some stuff, for now it kinda looks good.
But I didn't render over night yet.
The heat of the GPU can't be the problem, they are all water cooled.

Thanks

Had that aswell. I'm also using the latest Cinema4D Version.

Are you by any chance using Shadowplay? The latest Version enables itself in the Cinema4D Viewport. This combined with Octane gave me the worst crashes ever.

Turned off Shadowplay for C4D and everythings seems to be fine now.

I made a clean driver installation, I don't use the geforce experience at all.
So I guess thats not the case for me.

... just worked for a few hours and again, freeze!
So for now I made the Bios update. Let's see.

but thanks!

Same problem here since the windows creators update.

Updated Octane, C4D, BIOS, Chipset, NVIDIA,.
Rolled back to previous versions of C4D, NVIDIA, Octane, still same problem.

Problem also occurred when using Redshift demo...

The moment i try to go back to the previous windows version, it starts downloading the creators update again.

I'm lost...

Update:
Ok, now everything is up to date, except the NVIDIA. Now running version 376.33 (12/14/2016) and everything seems to run stable again.

For now...

Also experiencing hard system freezes after using Octane for 10-30 minutes...system locks up and have to hard restart.

This wasn't happening approximately two weeks back.

Updated BIOS on motherboard and still crashing...

If anyone has some ideas, or suggestions for what has worked for them, I would appreciate it.

Rolled back Nvidia driver and system seems stable now.

384. 94 seems very problematic (for me at least).
