Hello. Well i've been using octane for more than a month and i cant figure out the multi pass rendering. The only video out there is two years old. OTOY points me to this video when i ask for help but its no help at all. The interface is different and some of the terms are different. For instance the video starts to explain the beauty pass and describes a setting called "Surface emission". That setting is non existent under the beauty pass tab. Does anyone know of a CURRENT up to date tutorial?
This is the outdated video if anyone is wondering:

Hi Terry,
I'd love to know if it's possible to render ONLY Octane's multipass as an EXR sequence, without getting also a Regular Image image sequence of PNGs which seems to be coming from C4D's "Save" sub menu in the Render settings.
Under the Render Settings, I've tried turning off the Save menu altogether, or going within the Save menu and under "Regular Image" unchecking the "Save" box there. I've also unchecked the "Save" checkbox under the "Multi-Pass Image" section, but regardless of what I do there, Cinema 4D always wants to export PNGs named 1_0001.png etc (when the Format under Regular Image is set to PNG).
Does anyone know if this is possible?
Thank you,

There's not much differences. Just some removed passes and added new extra passes. And a few new parameters for info passes. It should not be so hard to solve the puzzle. Also there's some information in manuals about how to mix passes.

Hi aoktar.
This is an old post but its still an issue for me.
1. The manual is not clear
2. The reason why the tutorials are confusing is because the interface isn't the same
Im sure this is hard to understand from an incredibly talented programmers perspective. It might all be very clear to you. However, I am not an incredibly talented programmer.
Im sure it will make sense one of these days.
