I have Ubuntu 10.04, I downloaded OctaneRender and the suite demo Linux version and the Cuda 3.1 toolkit from Nvidia's site. I have the latest driver for my GPU Quadro FX 580.
But when I try to run Octane, it gives me the message:

DEVICE MANAGER
No Cuda Capable Devices Found, Exiting...

 How can i found out what is missing :?:

did you completely install the cuda toolkit ?

it seems rather strange. Maybe you could try to run some of nvidia's examples to see if it's octane related or due to some wrong configuration at the system level

I am having this same problem.
I would really like to switch to Linux permanently but due to issues like this, I cannot yet. (I am a linux newbie)
(I have been using Octane on windows 7 since the first beta)

I followed the video tutorial for installing Octane on Linux
I have installed a few different NVIDIA drivers for my card (256.53)
I have installed cuda toolkit 3.2.9 (that's all I could find)
I added /usr/local/cuda/bin to the $PATH (cuda installer said to)

Everything I have tried results with "No Cuda Capable Devices Found, Exiting" from Octane.

any help would be appreciated. I want to be done with Windows

I don´t think it works with cuda toolkit 3.2.9, on my system it works with cuda toolkit 3.0 and 3.1.
If you install an older toolkit it overwrites your installation with no problems.
Try 3.0:

Your driver is ok.

thank you mib2berlin. I will give that a try later on. I didn't have luck finding a toolkit that was older than 3.2.9 yesterday.

Thanks again
